Mementos of the trip

Family Fun

In Nov'07, in event of Dad's then-upcoming birthday the four of us went to Shah Alam, KL to watch the Roger Federer & Pete Sampras "Clash of Times" exhibition. Fed won (obviously ^^) in 3 sets. Rafael Nadal & Richard Gasquet were also there for a special-feature "Clash of Titans" match, which Nadal won in straight sets.

Odd-lights of the trip include:

  1. Trying to hail a cab at Shah Alam Stadium (a.k.a. the middle of nowhere) near midnight, before eventually getting one after walking down the road for a bit;

  2. A heart-thumping experience taking down a leftover Fed poster from the parking lot (which took a bit of strategy and cooperation from me & bro in order to go unnoticed by the officials);

  3. Weird-tasting breakfast beans at the Zon Park hotel;

  4. Narrowly avoiding getting caught up in the Hindi demonstration at Suria KLCC (just in front of our hotel) on the very day we left KL to return to Singapore.

All in all, the tennis was good fun, a rare experience to see some top players live - and on top of that I'm glad we got to go together and enjoy some family-time. ^^

Don't forget the rude and devious attitude of KL taxi drivers. Norak and a disgrace to the Melayu.
